Careers

Work with NCC and our team of top-quality accessibility experts!

We value our skilled captioners and pride ourselves on being a top employer of choice among Canadian real-time closed captioners. We are expanding our team of accessibility experts to include pre-recorded editors and audio describers. Our work environment fosters low turnover, great support systems, open door policies, encouragement to share information, and help with technical questions or professional queries. We’d love to have you join our team!

Flexibility

Our live programming day runs from 5am to 5am EST. This allows us to offer flexible schedules. Full-time captioners working within an 8 to 9 hour time frame generally average 4.5 to 5.5 hours of live captioning. Captioners can work up to 6 days per week (approximately 30 hours of live captioning per week) if they wish, although the typical fulltime work week is 5 days (25 hours) of live captioning production per week.

Work Life Balance

We offer flexible schedule choices that can accommodate your personal circumstances. All our steno-captioners work from home studios, allowing for a great work/life balance and quality of life. Our voice-captioners start their career working at our offices on rotating or fixed shifts that allow them to work around personal and work commitments. Work from home arrangements are considered for voice captioners after one year of on-air experience or demonstrated superior skill and technical mastery in all aspects of live captioning production.

Quality Assurance

In addition to regular quality assurance audits and reviews, we have a training and mentoring system in place that helps our captioners work on their accuracy in pursuit of excellence. We assign mentors to our captioners-in-training and junior captioners to ensure they get the guidance they need to help them grow within our company.

Team Oriented

We bring our captioners together, virtually and in person, for open dialogue, professional development, and team building. We know that communication and a culture of support encourages captioners to grow, develop and feel like they are part of a community, even if they work in isolation.

Support Community

We have a stable management and administrative infrastructure that allows our company to grow without compromising our level of service. You can feel confident knowing that when you need support, someone will be able to provide the guidance you need, day or night.
